A somewhat frightening realization

As I've hinted, there are Evil Plans afoot regarding the current bookcase situation.  But I am just now coming to grips with the full horror of the process:

1) There are approximately 5200 or so books in the house.  (The other 1000 are on campus.)
2) I am planning to get rid of all but two of the bookcases currently occupied by said books.
3) In order to do that, I need to take almost all of the books out of the bookcases.
4) Worse still, I have to do so without using three of the downstairs rooms, as they will be out of commission thanks to paint, floor refinishing, and/or workman-related space issues.
5) I also can't use the basement, which is too damp.
6) I really don't have space for a POD, thanks to the prior occupant's habit of planting trees in bizarre locations (not to mention the inconvenience of lugging books outside, the unevenness of the ground, and my desire to keep what's left of my lawn alive...).
7) So the books will somehow have to fit in a) the living room, b) the dining room, and c) my bedroom upstairs.
8) No word on where I am going to fit.
