Second review, more mixed than the first, but hardly unfair.  Slight damned if you do, damned if you don't, though--if I had chosen to write about Waverley and Middlemarch, I would have replicated the reviewer's own book and doctoral dissertation (which is, er, why I didn't).  *Shrug*
