In which I (gasp!) say something nice about Google Books
After raging so long against the machine that is GoogleBooks, I feel compelled to note that two things made me very happy yesterday:
- While searching around on Topic X, I discovered a number of previously-unnoticed connections involving Topic Y. This has set the little grey cells going.
- While pursuing the newly-uncovered Topic Y, I found the full texts of a number of great (er, "great") Victorian Catholic novels. As Victorian Catholic fiction is much more difficult to find in the wild--or even domesticated in a library--than the Protestant species, I was Very Pleased indeed. (The same search also turned up some interesting Catholic nonfiction, including a history of England for children.)
