This Week's Acquisitions

  • Madison Smartt Bell, Devil's Dream: A Novel About Nathan Bedford Forrest (Pantheon, 2009).  Historical novel about the Confederate officer. (BOMC)
  • Michael Mewshaw, Lying with the Dead (Other, 2009).  Extremely dysfunctional family deals with the legacy of a murder.  (Lift Bridge)
  • Alfred Marshall, The Comedy of English Protestantism.  In Three Acts (Benziger, 1896).  Roman Catholic satire of late-Victorian Protestantism, especially evangelicalism (the satire is set at Exeter Hall, favorite meeting place for a wide range of evangelical groups and lecturers).  A sequel of sorts to Marshall's The Comedy of Convocation in the English Church.  (Samovar)
