  • John Foster, Essays in a Series of Letters, 10th ed. (Holdsworth and Ball, 1833).  Popular collection of moral and religious essays on topics such as evangelicalism.  (eBay)
  • Norman Vance, Bible and Novel: Narrative Authority and the Death of God (Oxford, 2013).  Situates late-Victorian fictional experiments in Biblical reinterpretation in the context of shifting attitudes to Biblical inspiration.  I'm reviewing this for Choice.  (Review copy)
