Unexpected translations
I hadn't realized that Emma Jane Worboise translated Alessandro Manzoni's I Promessi sposi (The Betrothed). It's rather an odd fit, theologically speaking, although Worboise presumably thought that it was a great novel. (Or something that would increase sales, take your pick.) Nevertheless, there it is, in one of the volumes of Worboise's Christian World Magazine that recently wandered* into my mailbox. (Mentioned in passing here, by a reviewer who also appears somewhat startled.)
*--Purely by accident, you understand.
