CVs: a quick suggestion to job applicants
Bearing in mind that your average search committee member faces vast snowdrifts of job applications, might I suggest the following?
Please separate your publications and conference presentations, like so:
- Books published and in press
- Articles published and in press
- [Encyclopedia entries published and in press--or class them with the articles]
- Work in circulation
- Work in process (if desired)
- Reviews
- Conference presentations
If you have academic websites or other online publications (outside of peer-reviewed articles, that is), list them wherever seems appropriate, given your strengths or weaknesses in other areas.
It also helps if you date things consistently--either old to new or vice-versa.
