Fall 2015, the Sabbaticalization: Day Sixteen
1) Reading: Reading Burwick's British Drama of the Industrial Revolution today, as I need to review it. As I seem to have returned to full consciousness, aside from the occasional sniffle, I'm going to step my reading program up a bit.
2) Writing: 600+ words. We've made it to mid-century, which is where the chapter will end (as the arguments will all just repeat themselves until we hit the end of the nineteenth century, pretty much).
3) Miscellaneous: Finished drafting conference paper proposal #1. Will give it another look-over tomorrow before sending it off.
I'm actually ahead of projected schedule, as my initial plan when I proposed this sabbatical was to be done with the draft of this chapter midway through next month. Whereas I should be done drafting it sometime...next week, it looks like. As my word counts indicate, I've been aiming for at least a couple of pages per day, which doesn't sound like much until you realize that you've reached page twenty-two. Incidentally, this is chapter two, not chapter one, but writing it has a) helped me reformulate chapter three (most of which exists already) and b) clarified some of the organizational questions I had for myself about chapter one. Of course, it's also reinforcing my suspicions that this book will be non-short.
