New library in progress: current state of affairs

The current radio silence is owed to the deadly one-two punch of a) grading and b) finishing up a conference paper.  In the meantime, let's contemplate what will be the library.

If you can see it, it's very likely going to leave.  Everything along the back wall will go; the ceiling fan will be replaced by track lighting; the...unfortunate...carpet/linoleum combination will be replaced by hardwood; and there will be lots of new drywall.  The door on the right in the second photo, which leads to the garage, is redundant and will also disappear. 

In the new set-up, the library will be stacks straight across, instead of having stacks + bookcases ranged along the other walls.
