British Library, Day Three
This was one of those frustrated researcher days (that happens!). I finished Present Times and Modern Manners, which did not improve, but did drive me to contemplate chucking it all in and becoming a rabbi. Let's just say that I came across one too many instances of "roseate cheeks." Then, I made the following discoveries: a) a couple of books required so much transcription that my camera was necessary, except that I left my cellphone at home; b) others proved irrelevant (I'll take "misleading titles" for $1000, Alex); c) and in one case, I had read the book when I was last here in 2013. Apparently, some religious novels are not bad enough to leave lasting impressions. Ah, well. More books tomorrow.
